To serve as a liaison between the surgeon, patient, and staff to ensure the care delivery care that will minimize complications and maximize patient and physician satisfaction. The Nurse Navigator will assist with tracking the progress of the program and identifying areas that require improvement. The Nurse Navigator will provide pre and post- op education. The nurse navigator works closely with members of the multi-disciplinary team, physicians, and the community to improve the care and services provided to oncology patients. The navigator promotes patient, family, and physician satisfaction and is accountable for patient care delivery through appropriate resource utilization, active communication/follow up with team members, and leading clinical quality initiatives. - The individual in this role must be equipped with good critical thinking skills and ability to carry out independent nursing judgment and decision making. - The navigator provides services which encompass the spiritual, physiological, social, and psychological care aspects of patients, the prevention of disease, and the conservation of health.
