**JOB SUMMARY Monday-Friday 8am-5pm ** Advanced Electrical has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineer at our UL891 Switchboard Assembler and 508A Panelboard Shop in Irving, TX. This position is responsible for designing Switchboards, Engineered Modifications to Switchboards and related work as required by the company. This position is also responsible for providing complete fabrication ready mechanical designs and documentation of electrical products utilizing SolidWorks 3D and AutoCAD software in support of our low voltage electrical distribution and control equipment life extension business. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Working closely with others in the engineering department, as well as fabrication, machine shop and production personnel, to maintain an up-to-date record of all products and component parts manufactured.
- Identify like components and group them into retrievable drawing sets for ease of retrieval/review.
- Maintain a clear and concise drawing log of all documentation (past/present/future), ensuring its accuracy and integrity.
- Provide fabrication ready designs for sheet metal and machining.
- Utilize 'design for manufacturing' principles to reduce system complexity and build time.
- Generate bills of material and modification of standard assemblies to suit the project requirements.
- Work with production technicians to document custom product modifications without impeding production flow or scheduling.
- Provide fixture design and assist in the development of facilities equipment.
- Participate in "on site dimensional visits" where physical information is gathered and documented to complete product modifications.
- Maintain product and company reputation by complying with government regulations and all compelling industry standards.
- Prepare calculations as needed.
- Occasionally the ideal candidate will be required to assist production in emergency situations requiring weekend hours or overnight stays.
- Perform other job-related duties as necessary or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS - Excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Working knowledge of UL891, UL508A, IEEE/ANSI and NEC/NFPA 70E standards.
- ISO 9001 experience preferred.
- Able to analyze complex systems, identify issues, and propose effective solutions.
- Effective communication skills are crucial for mechanical engineers.
- Project management skills, including the ability to plan, organize, and execute projects efficiently, are highly valued.
- Ability to think creatively and innovate in designing solutions is important. Mechanical engineers should be capable of coming up with new ideas and approaches to address engineering challenges.
- Collaborate with professionals from various disciplines. The ability to work effectively in a team, share ideas, and contribute to a collaborative work environment is an essential qualification.
- Detail oriented, great attitude, team player, well organized.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering 5 years' prior experience using SolidWorks, CAD Prior UL-891 Switchgear and ANSI C37 Switchgear prior design work is desired. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS None required PHYSICAL DEMANDS --- Occasional reaching/working overhead, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling --- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. --- Lifting requirements include occasional lifting up to 25 pounds at a time.
