Branch Manager - Washington DC

Direct responsibility to plan, schedule, direct and execute the day-to-day operational activities of small and medium-sized distribution centers in the Book Fair Organization. Evaluate and assess operations of Branch to ensure adherence to company standards and policies, and optimal performance, by performing the following duties.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Management
a) In conjunction with Director, Field Operations and General Manager, plan and prepare annual budget for Branch unit.
b) Achieve financial results and manage business-operating costs effectively.
c) Responsible for achieving Branch budgeted goals, including direct operating costs, revenue per fair through quality production and timely service to customers, and overall branch profitability.
Operations Management
a) Implement operational efficiency improvements and utilize capacity planning and operational metrics to achieve branch's financial results.
b) Ensure the branch operates in an efficient manner by utilizing effective methods of packing, set-up, delivery, pick-up of book fairs; utilize capacity planning and staffing methods to assure optimum productivity.
c) Oversee the production management system, including utilization of the system, to ensure that production plans are generated, implemented, and completed on a daily basis
d) Conduct annual and semi-annual warehouse sales to reduce inventory levels and maximize revenue stream.
e) Monitor, evaluate, and manage inventory utilization and inventory control procedures/processes to achieve company objectives.
f) Oversee driver routing to assure timely deliveries while effectively managing driver labor costs.
g) Oversee truck specifications and preventive care program of all vehicles to assure minimal maintenance costs and safety of the vehicles.
h) Ensure proper record keeping for drivers (DOT, Etc.) and report of mileage and fuel for State Fuel and Use Taxes.
i) Ensure monthly Safety Meetings are conducted with full attendance and appropriate agenda and record-keeping.
j) Oversee the completion of all required insurance forms in compliance with worker's compensation, motor vehicle accidents, and personal property loss in a timely and efficient manner and distribute to appropriate parties as required.
k) Maintain a clean, safe, and productive work environment while focusing on minimizing work-related injuries and auto losses, conducting injury investigations/reviews, complying with OSHA guidelines, and Company directives.Leadership
a) Direct hiring, training, developing and evaluating of drivers, warehouse personnel and supervisory staff.
b) Effective in collaborating and communicating between Operations and Sales teams to enhance overall business performance.
c) Assure all assets are secured and handled appropriately to minimize product damage and property loss.
d) Execute Company policies, procedures, and programs in a professional, effective, and timely manner.
e) Provide superior, responsive customer service while maintaining cost controls.
f) Plan and conduct regular staff meetings (warehouse, driver and 2nd shift) to inform, educate, and recognize employees, as well as to provide a forum for exchange of ideas.
g) In partnership with Human Resources is responsible for the recruiting, interviewing, selecting, training/development, evaluating, disciplining, and terminating employees in the Branch in a fair, timely and objective manner.
h) Responsible for documentation of disciplinary issues as they relate to performance behavior.
i) Maintain business confidentiality relative to personnel, pricing, promotion, customer lists, and methods of distribution.
j) Perform all tasks and projects as directed by Director, Field Operations and General Manager.QualificationsJOB REQUIREMENTS
1. BA/BS degree in Management, Business, Transportation, or Operations related curriculum preferred.
2. Minimum of 5 years of proven front-line management experience in operations for a manufacturing or distribution company.
3. Demonstrated capability to manage a high quality, efficient and cost-effective operations a must.
4. Facilities management experience preferred.
5. Inventory management experience preferred.
6. Fleet/Logistics management a plus.
