- Hotel discounts RESPONSIBILITIES + AUTHORITIES: Enjoy working directly with clients to make a sale? Can you develop creative engagement opportunities to promote hotel services? The Group Sales Manager is an integral part of the revenue generation of a hotel. You will be responsible for soliciting past and new business and ensuring guests are satisfied. Here are some tasks you can be expected to complete on a daily basis:
- Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients.
- Solicit new and existing accounts to meet and exceed revenue goals through telephone prospecting, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication.
- Prepare information for, meet with and entertain clients as deemed appropriate by potential business from that account.
- Communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to all departments in the hotel to ensure high quality of service to customers.
- Prepare correspondence to customers, internal booking reports and file maintenance.
- Participate in daily business review meeting, pre-convention meetings, training and other sales-related meetings as required.
- Manage accounts to achieve guest satisfaction and to solicit past and new business to ensure all revenue goals are achieved or exceeded. WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- Leadership skills to motivate and develop staff and to ensure accomplishment of goals.
- Knowledge of hotel or facility operations, including marketing plans, security and safety programs.
- Strong strategic thinking and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency with spreadsheet programs such as Excel.
- Most importantly you are a people person! You must work professionally and positively with guests and clients at all times. QUALIFICATIONS + SKILLS:
- Bachelor's degree in business.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in sales or management will be essential.
- Previous Marriott Experience preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Strong motivational and leadership skills.
- Ability to conduct market research will be essential.
- Strategic planning skills.
- Must be willing to "pitch-in" and help co- workers with their job duties and be a team player.
