Senior Officer, Compliance (hybrid)Position Overview Ignite your career as the Senior Officer of Compliance at Pew!In this role,you will assist in elements of our Enterprise Risk Management program, drive internal assessments, and shape policy evaluation. This is your chance to advise cross-functional teams, bolster internal controls, and ensure compliance with a dynamic array of laws and regulations. We are seeking a compliance professional with a strong background in risk management, risk-based audit strategies, strong leadership skills, and the ability to communicate with passion and precision.The position reports to the Director, Compliance. Join us in our Washington, DC office, and enjoy the flexibility of hybrid work (two core days in office).Primary responsibilities include:1) performing and overseeing risk and control assessments2) executing projects that support the organization's overall control environment.The ideal candidate must be highly skilled in risk management and/or audit (either operational or financial) focusing on identifying risks and designing, implementing, and evaluating general and business process manual and automated internal controls. They will rely on effective analytical, communication, project management, and business organization skills and work well independently and as a member of a team.This position reports to the Director of Compliance.Responsibilities - Collaborate with colleagues in Legal Affairs and across the organization to develop, implement, and execute internal control assessments and audits of operations, financial reporting, and compliance with laws and regulations and make recommendations on how to better manage risks and improve controls.
- Utilize data analytics to gain and share insights to inform the compliance and business units areas of focus.
- Participate in activities and meetings and perform other tasks as assigned, including, for example, serving on organization-wide committees or performing special investigations.
- Assist the unit in developing work routines and standards to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the compliance team.
- Serve as a subject matter expert who acts as departmental and cross-departmental resource
- Assist the unit's leadership in raising the visibility and esteem of the Compliance Unit across the institution.
- Prepare reports for Pew's Audit Committee and the Center's Executive Committee.
- Contribute to the unit's strategic plan, including the annual plan to select assessments to perform.
- Complete multiple projects (primarily internal control assessments some of which may involve a co-source engagement with a third-party) each year with minimal oversight and ensure that the agreed to recommendations from each assessment are implemented.
- Identify advisory opportunities for the unit based upon routine work and discussions with others throughout the institution.
- Continuously develop in the areas of risk management, compliance, and internal control by engaging in formal and informal events and training.

- The compliance unit maintains oversight of Pew's Enterprise Risk Management program by keeping pace with leading practices, the changes in business processes, perceived risks, and applicable laws. Appropriate policies, procedures, and internal controls are in place to mitigate business risks.Requirements
