Position description The Department of Neurology at the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, is recruiting for a full-time faculty member in the In-Residence series at the Professor rank in the field of transcriptomics of ischemic stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage and autism spectrum disorders. The candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an active research portfolio that is externally funded. Secondarily, faculty in this series are expected to engage in teaching, demonstrate professional competence and activity, and provide University and public service. The successful candidate will have an ongoing, funded programs of research in the areas of transcriptomics of ischemic stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) and subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). The candidate will not only demonstrate excellence in these research areas but also be able to teach and mentor in field to undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, non-faculty academics, and junior faculty members. The candidate will be expected to lead a research group studying human stroke and collaborate with local and national stroke clinicians and researchers, and include the following skills. * Define and lead research projects on human stroke, including ischemic stroke, ICH and SAH * Develop and write grants and be a PI on federally funded NIH grants * Manage research lab operations and personnel * Prepare, organize and communicate research results through publication and presentations * Participate in appropriate professional societies and educational organizations * Participate on grant review committees and give talks at local, national and international conferences * Provide service to department, school and campus committees * Ability to foster collegiality and work collaboratively in a diverse environment * Ability to adhere to University policies and procedures The UC Davis Department of Neurology and UC Davis Health teaching hospital are nationally ranked in US News & World Report. For the full position description and to apply, please visit: https://recruit.ucdavis.edu/JPF06339 Qualifications Basic qualifications (required at time of application) * M.D., Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D. in genetics and/or molecular biology * An outstanding record of research creativity, independence, and productivity including publications on human ischemic stroke, human intracerebral hemorrhage, and human subarachnoid hemorrhage * Demonstrated ability to establish and sustain extramurally funded research programs and be a PI on current NIH human stroke grants * Proven record managing research lab operations and personnel including postdocs, graduate students, Junior Specialists, and volunteers * Publication record eligible for appointment at the Professor rank in the In-Residence series * Teaching experience that includes students, postdoctoral scholars, non-faculty academics, and junior faculty members * Demonstrated experience in analyzing whole genome mRNA and non-coding RNA data * Demonstrated experience performing whole-genome expression studies of blood of patients with ischemic stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage and subarachnoid hemorrhage; and experience collaborating with stroke clinicians and scientists throughout the United States * Demonstrated and published research on sex-specific biology in the peripheral immune blood transcriptome in human stroke * Demonstrated and published research on advancing precision medicine through transcriptomics studies in human stroke * Demonstrated and published research on delineating the molecular heterogeneity in the peripheral blood transcriptome in human stroke Preferred qualifications (other preferred, but not required, qualifications for the position) * Experience with machine learning and statistics for big data for analyzing the whole human transcriptome. * Principal Investigator of NIH grants studying human stroke * Publications on transcriptomics of human ischemic stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage, and autism spectrum disorders Application Requirements Document requirements - Curriculum Vitae - Your most recently updated C.V.
