RESPONSIBILITIES: - Prepare and analyze job cost reports, tracking actual costs against budgets to identify variances and potential areas for cost improvement.
- Manage all accounting aspects of construction projects, including budgeting, invoicing, payables, receivables, and payroll allocations.
- Coordinate with project managers to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and to provide financial insights that support decision-making.
- Oversee the processing of construction draws and payments, ensuring compliance with contract terms.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all financial transactions related to construction projects.
- Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures specific to the construction industry.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards related to construction accounting and taxation.
- Participate in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Support external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations related to construction accounts.
- Collaborate with the finance department to improve financial processes and systems.
QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A CPA designation is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in the construction industry or a related field.
- Strong understanding of construction accounting principles, including job cost accounting, percentage of completion accounting, and revenue recognition.
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong emphasis on Excel. Experience with construction management software is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of construction contracts, lien laws, and other legal aspects related to construction finance.
