Position description Dr. Petra Wilder-Smith anticipates openings for Junior, Assistant, Associate, and Full Specialists in her group, which focuses on the use of light and lasers for detecting and treating oral pathologies such as dental, periodontal disease, and cancer. Responsibilities include assisting with laboratory, animal and clinical research, regulatory and administrative activities as well as working with our student researchers. Junior Specialists - Should possess a baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree preferably in Biology, Biological Sciences, Physics, Chemistry, or Optical Engineering) or equivalent research experience. Assistant Specialists - Should possess expertise consistent with four to six years of training and/or experience in the relevant specialization. Appropriate qualifications for appointees at this rank would include possession of a Master's degree in a relevant discipline, or possession of a relevant baccalaureate degree plus three or more years of research experience. Associate Specialists - Should possess a master's degree (or equivalent degree) or 5-10 yrs. of experience. Specialists - Should possess a terminal degree (PhD/MD) (or equivalent degree) or 10+ yrs. of experience Requirements: Candidates must have the ability to work in an interdisciplinary setting, must be self-motivated, team players, strong written and verbal communicators and able to achieve goals on time and independently. All appointments are for one year with the potential for extension dependent upon performance and funding. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
