DIRECTV is hiring for the position of Principal System Engineer, exclusively in support of our Ad Sales business. The position is responsible for supporting leading-edge solutions and technology for the DIRECTV Ad Sales platform. The media and advertising landscape and the industry you will support is unique and operates at a dynamic and aggressive pace. The role centers driving the fundamental Advertising technology integration for our Ad Tech Stack as the business embarks on a digital and programmatic transformation. It requires a broad scope and depth of technical expertise, excellent communication skills, the ability to multitask, prioritize work effectively, and continuously master evolving technologies. In this individual contributor role, you will work and collaborate with critical stakeholders to understand business needs, priority, and the quality of services to be created or enhanced.

Here's what you'll do:

Work across technical and product teams to understand business objectives and facilitate the buildout of infrastructure and software to meet those needs.
Design complex software solutions.
Secure access to the facilities and data.
Lead root-cause analysis sessions and provide sound technical guidance on solutions that are appropriate to the level of the business impact.
Lead POC efforts on new technologies and tools.
Contribute to organizational process improvements and set standards.
Resolve network issues and manage network routes.
Mentor teams on new technologies.

Here's what you'll need:

Industry Knowledge

Media/Advertising/Ad tech experience: 3 years +
Software Development: 10 years +
Networking/Infrastructure Support: 5 years +

Skills / Disciplines

Being able to see the "big picture".
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
3rd party product evaluation.
Safe agile methodology.
In-depth knowledge of the AWS cloud services (VPC, EC2, S3, EKS, Firehose, Kinesis, IAM.)
In-depth knowledge Kubernetes from conceptual to hands on administration/kubectl.
In-depth knowledge of networking principles, particularly in routing, firewall security, and proxy configurations (nginx/haproxy).
Highly proficient in multiple programming languagesBash/ksh, Python, Java- Required
Go, Javascript - Desirable


In-depth knowledge of logging infrastructure, monitoring, and dashboarding tools (SumoLogic, ELK/OpenSearch).
In depth knowledge of security principles and practices including hands on knowledge of certificate management, OAuth2, and encryption.
Linux administration (user management, file system management, networking).
Fluent in the application of design patterns and OOD/OOP.
Knowledgeable in software lifecycle and best practices.
Data modeling.

The Base Salary range displayed below reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for each of DIRECTV's 4 (four) US Labor Market Zones. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

DIRECTV WAGE ZONES $140,790 - $255,530

Low (N1): $140,790 - $211,090

Mid (N2): $148,200 - $222,200

High (N3): $163,020 - $244,420

Top (N4): $170,430 - $255,530
