Montgomery & Associates (M&A) is seeking a full-time hydrogeologist or engineer to join our Phoenix office. The position is primarily office-based with occasional field work for a mature Superfund site located in Scottsdale, Arizona. The hired professional will manage tasks and junior staff and provide technical support for groundwater and soil contaminant characterization and remediation. The role includes collaboration with M&A team leaders, project staff, project managers, administrative personnel, clients, and regulators. Duties Managing and technically contributing to project activities, including: Developing, managing, and executing environmental investigations in the saturated and vadose zones, including groundwater, soil gas, and indoor air monitoring and sampling events Coordinating well permitting, drilling, design, construction, testing, sampling, rehabilitation, and abandonment from the office and field Coordinating and managing M&A field teams and subcontractors Interacting with regulatory agencies, municipalities, and water suppliers Analyzing data and preparing reports Directing, training, and mentoring junior staff Qualifications Bachelor's degree in geology, hydrology, or engineering; graduate degree preferred A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in environmental and water resources consulting Professional registration (P.G. or P.E.) preferred Education and professional experience in subsurface conceptualizing, investigation, and testing, with emphasis on contaminant fate and transport Experience designing, executing, and analyzing aquifer pumping tests Professional experience working with groundwater models Experience working on CERCLA projects preferred Expertise in groundwater remedial technologies and treatment a plus Experience with vapor intrusion and indoor air investigations and remediation a plus Task or project management experience Technical writing skills and ability to present technical information in group/meeting settings Ability to pass background check and drug test if requested Current and valid driver's license Ability to legally work and reside in the United States At M&A, our mission is to promote a fulfilling and respectful work culture where employees collaborate to deliver pragmatic water resource solutions grounded in the principles of integrity, scientific rigor, and environmental responsibility.
