Job DescriptionJob Description Estimators will be trained by and under the supervision of the Estimating Manager. This role includes involvement with all aspects of the bid process. Specifics include determining the required materials and equipment, sourcing options, labor requirements, and working with subcontractors and vendors to obtain accurate cost estimates for a given project. Essential Functions: - Interpret and analyze project documents regarding contract terms, construction specifications, engineered drawings, clarifications, and requirements - Perform accurate labor and material takeoffs utilizing computerized estimating software - Prepare request for information (RFI) documents - Evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations to ensure accuracy and compliance with project specifications - Prepare detailed proposal documents outlining scope of work, project exclusions, proposed alternates, and clarifications to bid - Prepare summary documents for awarded projects and assist Estimating Manager in conducting turnover meetings with Project Management team - Assist and coordinate with Estimating Administrator on the following: o Manage and maintain estimation bidding schedule/calendar o Obtain and manage current bid documents - check daily for new releases of Addenda and Clarifications o Create invitations to bid (ITBs) and identify relevant subcontractors and vendors for each specific project - Perform on-site job walks and attend pre-bid meetings - Monitor and track material costs in estimating software and from vendor quotes - Establish and maintain positive relationships with customers, subcontractors, and vendors Skill/Qualification Requirements: - Microsoft Office - proficiency in Excel and Word required - Microsoft Outlook - Ability to read and understand blueprints and construction plans/documents - Experience or knowledge of plumbing, mechanical piping, ductwork, and HVAC systems is preferred - Associate degree (or higher) in construction or engineering related fields is preferred - Computerized estimation software experience is preferred |
