Key Responsibilities Uses professional judgment to adapt imaging procedures to ensure quality diagnostic outcomes. --- Selects the most appropriate and cost-effective action plan, after reviewing all pertinent data and assessing the patient s abilities and condition. --- Reconfirms patient identification using two unique identifiers (Name and DOB) and verifies procedure requested. --- Verifies female patient pregnancy status, when appropriate. --- Evaluates lab values prior to performing any interventional procedure. --- Observes patient and equipment during procedures, documents patient reactions or problems on requisitions, and reports immediately to supervisor. --- Assesses factors that may contraindicate the procedure, such as medications or insufficient patient preparation. --- Documents patient and exam occurrences in PACS/RIS to include exam start and completion times. --- Documents required/significant information regarding patient history pertinent to exams/procedures. --- Able to recognize significant clinical information and historical facts from the patient and from the medical record which may impact the examination. --- Performs such exams as abdominal, renal, aorta, thyroid, pelvic, obstetrical, bio-physical profiles, vascular studies, testicular and breasts, color flow studies, Doppler studies, renal biopsies and fluid collections of localized areas. Takes representative anatomical pictures, recognizes normal versus abnormal anatomy, and exhibits knowledge of various pathological processes. --- Has thorough knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology to sufficiently pinpoint area of imaging. --- Takes initiative to participate in department/modality projects/duties.
