POSITION: This 1-year post-doctoral research position is funded to develop and oversee a new Air Force fitness and wellness program. The position is a full-time (100% FTE) research dedicated fellowship for 1 year guaranteed. The position includes setting up fitness and wellness screenings, working with the project team to schedule and oversee interventions, and collecting data on fitness and wellness changes across time to determine the effectiveness of different portions of the wellness program. The project team will include approximately 25 individuals from professors to undergraduate research assistants. The resources of the WRC and School of Kinesiology are available for additional research projects to be designed and completed outside of the funded project time. There will be opportunities for professional development, including training on independent lab operations, writing manuscripts for publication, disseminating results, obtaining funding, and mentoring student researchers (doctoral, masters, and undergraduate).The Auburn University Warrior Research Center (WRC) is a specialized research and technology center with the mission of improving force readiness. AU WRC acts as a catalyst for change, bringing together researchers, Military and tactical personnel, government, and commercial partners with the goal of improving equipment, health, performance and wellness of our Service Members, tactical responders, Veterans and Families.The work of the WRC combines physiology, biomechanics, nutrition, neurophysiology, functional movement, sports medicine, mindfullness, and other areas to improve wellness, fitness, and injury prevention, treatment and rehabilitation methods to improve tactical athlete health and performance. Our work is done with a focus on evidence/science-based practice with the goal of solving real world problems. Professor JoEllen Sefton, Ph.D. is the Director of the Auburn's WRC. Regular travel to a local Air Force Base is required. The postdoctoral fellow will be expected to work with the PI to process, analyze, and publish resulting data. Minimum Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS1. PhD in a discipline related to fitness and wellness, such athletic training, kinesiology, exercise science/physiology, or sports psychology at the time employment begins. While applicants with a wide range of specializations within the eld of Kinesiology will be considered, we seek those who have applied their specialty to wellness, injury preventionor performance.2. Experience with project management.3. Excellent interpersonal communication skills and workplace collegiality.4. Experience working with human subjects, especially tactical athletes.5. Enthusiastic, highly motivated with strong work ethic, and a history of success.6. Established ability to work independently and in teams.7. Excellent writing and analytic skills as evidenced by application materials and multiple peer-reviewed publications and/or presentations.8. Must meet eligibility requirements for work in the United States at the time appointment begins and be able to continue working legally for the proposed term of employment. Desired Qualifications DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS1. Experience working with tactical populations and large data sets as well as scientific writing and publishing experience is desired.2. Expertise in R statistical applications.3. Experience with statistics and advanced quantitative methods.4. Experience with collecting and working with biological markers.5. Experience with IRB protocols and submission.6. Experience with grant project management.7. Experience with lab operations and management.8.
