Essential Functions - Determines and applies appropriate pesticides, fertilizers, colorant, and/or cultural control methods according to label recommendations.
- Oversees calibration of equipment, sprayers, and fertilizer spreaders; reads and interprets pesticide labels.
- Maintains state-required records pertaining to pesticide application and usage.
- Inspects grounds including turf, trees, and shrub beds for weeds, insects, and/or disease.
- Conducts soil tests and interprets the results to identify the proper levels and rates of chemical application.
- Cleans and maintains pesticide and fertilizer application equipment.
- Orders and purchases pesticides as needed.
- Assists with university landscape projects as needed.
- May be responsible for meeting and maintaining training and certification requirements as outlined by the applicable department's training and credentialing requirements.
- May perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent Experience: 4 years of experience in pesticide application Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications Minimum Skills and Abilities - Knowledge of terminology, use, and application methods of pesticides and fertilizers. Knowledge of safety regulations related to pesticides/fertilizers and their applications.
- General knowledge of plants, shrubs, trees, turf types, and weeds.
