Lad Lake is currently seeking compassionate, patient, and collaborative individuals to join our team! Responsibilities include working directly with youth who have experienced trauma, role modeling skills necessary to build healthy relationships and teaching important life skills such as halthy recreational activities, good hygiene, appropriate social skills, coping skills, and anger management skills. This caregiver role assists in the planning of outdoor/indoor activities and engages interactively with the youth, while also being involved in crisis management. This Treatment Technician role can be an excellent springboard into various careers at Lad Lake. Many of our current staff started as caregivers and are now Unit Managers, Campus Supervisors, Teachers, and Trainers.JOB SUMMARYTo be a proper role model and provide adequate supervision, guidance, structure, and behavior management to all clients in the Residential and Shelter programs.ESSENTIAL DUTIESServe as a positive role model for youth in our residential care programsIntentional effort to provide opportunities for youth to enhance their skills, abilities, and interestsProvide active supervision of youth by engaging in activities that are of interest to themPlan and facilitate activities and daily routinesCrisis intervention with youth through verbal de-escalation techniquesEngage in, assess, and document youth activities (shift logs, incident reports, behavioral management logs, databases, etc.)Provide support to youth, their families, and ancillary service providersProvide transportation in agency vehicles for youths' community-based needs and activitiesMaintain confidentiality within all written and verbal communicationsEXPERIENCEMust be;Willingness to complete training through Lad Lake's traineeship program, bachelor's degree preferredA high school diploma is requiredAbility to demonstrate patience and empathy to build rapport with adolescents who use aggression as a coping mechanismAssertive, self-confident, and sensitive in working with teens and staff - trauma-informed.Demonstrate social, emotional, and intellectual maturityMust be at least 21 years old Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to be patient and understanding of life's difficult situations; ability to search for and recognize the good in people and situations; ability to stay calm and de-escalate situations where people are tense and frustrated; ability to follow written and verbal instructions; working knowledge of computers and MS Office; ability to multi-task and use time effectively and efficiently; demonstrated sensitivity towards cultural, ethnic, and disability matters.Physical Demands: Duties require possible physical activity while engaging with youth in the program. In rare situations, staff may be required to use physical de-escalation techniques to intervene if staff or clients are in danger of being physically harmed-the ability to lift 30 pounds is required.
