As we embark on a shift towards enhancing operational efficiency and strategic capacity, we invite a Senior Tax Analyst to join our dynamic team. This critical role will lead the preparation of interim and annual tax provisions, uphold rigorous tax compliance standards, and oversee tax filings and payments-all within a flexible remote work setting. A significant part of your responsibility will be to harness Workday's capabilities for developing an integrated set of tax provision workpapers, a key initiative in our quest to streamline and automate our tax procedures.Key Responsibilities: - Tax Provision Preparation: Spearhead the preparation of interim and annual tax provisions, ensuring compliance with ASC 740, accuracy, and adherence to accounting standards and tax regulations.
- Liaison for Tax Return Preparation: Serve as the primary liaison between Associated Bank and an external Big 4 accounting firm responsible for preparing tax returns. Oversee the provision of necessary data and review preliminary returns for accuracy.
- Audit Support: Deliver solid support during audits, including preparing documentation and responding to inquiries with detail and accuracy.
- Process Optimization: Actively contribute to the tax department's strategic realignment, enhancing process efficiency and integrating Workday into our tax operations.
- General Ledger Reconciliation: Conduct thorough reconciliations of tax-related general ledger accounts to ensure data integrity.
- Regulatory Compliance: Remain informed about changes in federal and state tax laws and regulations.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with the accounting department to manage the tax implications of various corporate transactions and strategies.
- Tax Research: Undertake comprehensive tax research to support tax filings, provision calculations, and other tax-related issues.
- Ad-Hoc Responsibilities: Tackle additional duties and projects as needed, adapting to the evolving requirements of the department and organization.QUALIFICATIONS
- Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance. Required
- Experience
- 3-5 years experience in tax accounting. Required
- 5-7 years experience in accounting. PreferredA successful person in this role will need to have:
- Knowledge of, and practical experience with, accounting for income taxes in accordance with ASC 740.
- Knowledge of federal income tax rules and filing requirements.
- Working familiarity with some state income and/or franchise tax rules and filing requirements.
- At least intermediate-level skills in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to perform complex calculations and data analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
