JOB SCOPE:

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws and directly supervises employees. Plans, coordinates, and oversees activities related to maintaining and repairing physical structures of buildings, machinery and maintaining grounds by performing the following duties. Plans, directs, and coordinates outside contracts, physical moves, rearrangement of machinery, equipment and maintenance activities. Ensures compliance with applicable codes, and all environmental regulations as well as best practices are met and /or exceeded. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws by performing the following duties:

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates in training to produce a quality product / services, uses preventative measures to ensure the customer requirements and Tenneco standards are met.
  • Comply with legal and other requirements to avoid injury and/or ill health to themselves and others.
  • Understands preventative measures and creates a safe and healthy environment by having the ability to identify potential emergency situations and reports all incidents to supervisor/ manager.
  • Adhere to the facility's quality, environmental, health and safety policies that are identified by the management systems requirements.

  • Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Schedules and coordinate activities and personnel concerned with maintenance of equipment and machinery in the industrial plant.
  • Establishes priorities of repairs with production shift supervisors.
  • Maintain comprehensive maintenance records.
  • Maintains a Repair Parts Inventory Program, requisition equipment, revenue supplies, and maintenance repair items.
  • Maintains a Preventative Maintenance and Predictive Maintenance Program.
  • Implement OEM repair parts cost reduction practices.
  • Assist maintenance personnel in developing programs to reduce percentage of equipment downtime.
  • Interface with outside contractors and vendors as directed by the Plant Manager.
  • Ensures Maintenance teams are performing work in conformance with Work Instructions.
  • Interprets specifications and job orders to employees and assigns duties.
  • Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, and/or employees.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists employees in solving work problems.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate employees to achieve work goals.
  • Maintains accurate and appropriate records for maintenance employees (i.e. attendance, disciplinary, etc.)
  • Resolves employee problems or submits unsettled problems to Human Resources.
  • Initiates contact for assistance with emergency maintenance, engineering, quality and or other problems.
  • Completes necessary work orders for maintenance work, and approving overtime.
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments and specific projects.
  • Attendance is required.
  • Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods by analyzing and planning space requirements, workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Confers with vendors to determine specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards. Works closely with local fire, building, insurance and other inspectors to ensure compliance with applicable codes.
  • Plans, estimates cost of and oversee physical moves, rearrangement of machinery and installation of equipment.
  • Develops and implements capital and expense projects throughout the facility as assigned.
  • Provides annual energy audits and analyzes utility costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Manages the Preventative Maintenance System by planning scheduling and coordinating preventative maintenance activities to minimize downtime, unnecessary production cost or production delays.
  • Oversees maintenance of plant fire and disaster equipment, manages overhead, crane chain and hoist inspections.
  • Assists operating departments in the disposition of problems arising from operation, maintenance and installation of electrical, mechanical gas or air systems.
  • Examines documents such as blueprints, drawings, change orders, and specifications to verify completeness and accuracy of data.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints, drawings, models, and other specifications to obtain data.
  • Support compliance to all state and federal environmental regulations, rules and codes.
  • Responsible for overseeing the following positions: Mechanical Engineer, Maintenance Supervisor, Electrical Engineer, Plant Engineer, and Controls Engineer.

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
    • Bachelor's degree and 7 years of manufacturing and/or maintenance (or equivalent combination of formal education and experience) with firsthand experience in at least three (3) of the following areas: Hourly supervision, salaried supervision, quality management/engineering, manufacturing engineering, maintenance management, human relations management, financial management, labor contract negotiations, or operations management.
      SKILLS & ABILITIES
      • Ability to read and write English. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports for business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
      • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as: discounts, interest, commissions proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
      • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
      • Ability to use computers with solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SAP. Typing skills are required.
      • Must be detail and quality oriented.
        • Ability to work independently with little direction/supervision along with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

          • Must be able to regularly lift, push, and/or pull up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
          • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
          • Able to be on call 24/7 for customer and manufacturing sites.
          • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and occasionally works near moving mechanical parts in high, precarious places.
