Description

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is hiring several Seasonal - Facility Maintenance Worker I employees to support our Fairgrounds Park, Grounds Mow Crew, Ballfields Grooming, and Stormwater Drainage. This position pays $24.75 per hour.

If you are hardworking, team oriented, reliable, and, customer service driven, this seasonal work is a great opportunity! You will be assigned to work on a crew performing a variety of duties which may include routine grounds keeping, building maintenance and event support at the Evergreen Fairgrounds, or supporting routine facility maintenance and mowing support for over 120 Snohomish County parks and trail system.

Your strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to provide excellent customer service to the public will make you successful in this role. You must have a valid State of Washington Driver's License.

Duties assigned will include:

  • Sweeping, raking, picking up trash from grounds and trails; cleaning and preparing facilities for scheduled events to include the Evergreen State Fair, pressure washing buildings, shoveling and spreading mulch, gravel and soil and being an ambassador of Snohomish County to the community;
  • Mows, edges, trims, and water lawns;
  • Weeds flower beds; trims trees and plants; waters and fertilizes a variety of flowers, plants, shrubs and trees; and
  • Operating and maintaining a variety of light trucks and maintenance equipment. Eligibility Register
    Once all seasonal positions are filled applicants who pass minimum qualifications will be placed on an eligibility register to fill future openings which will expire October 31, 2024.

      Job Duties

      STATEMENT OF ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
    • Operates a variety of single axle trucks rated to 10.000 LBS GVW and less, and lawn mowing equipment.
    • Performs routine maintenance on assigned equipment by checking fluid levels and lubricating equipment as necessary.
    • Picks up and delivers equipment, materials, parts, and supplies as required.
    • Paints with non powered equipment from ground level or non-powered lifting devices under supervision.
    • Performs variety of routine cleaning tasks such as cleaning and stocking restrooms, cleaning and waxing floors, and setting up facilities for a variety of meetings and events, clean up after meetings and events, garbage and litter pickup.
    • Fills out records and reports as necessary. STATEMENT OF OTHER JOB DUTIES
    • May perform a variety of routine grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing, edging, trimming lawns, watering and weeding flower beds, raking, pick and shovel work, using a variety of small power tools.
    • Assist in traffic control, flagging and barricade placement.
      Minimum Qualifications

      One (1) year experience in construction and maintenance work; OR, any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities. Must pass job related tests.

      SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

      A valid Washington State Driver's License is required for employment.

      Possession of or ability to obtain a valid First Aid/CPR card within ninety (90) days of employment.

          The work involves a variety of manual labor tasks requiring some strenuous physical effort such as lifting objects weighing up to seventy five (75) pounds.

          SUPERVISION

          Employees report to Facility Leadworker or a senior level facilities maintenance worker as assigned. The work is performed under general supervision and may be spot checked to ensure timely completion and compliance with instructions, procedures, and standards. Specific instructions are given for unusual or non routine tasks.

          Employees at this level are expected to be semi proficient in a number of different building and construction trades areas such as carpentry, electrical, plumbing and frequently operate a variety of construction and maintenance equipment. The work is performed under general supervision and may be spot checked to ensure timely completion and compliance with work orders, plans, and specs. Specific instructions are usually given for unusual or non routine tasks.

          WORKING CONDITIONS

          The work is performed both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather at work sites throughout the county. The work may involve working at considerable heights, in confined spaces, from ladders, hydraulic boom trucks, or scaffolding. Employees are exposed to a variety of hazards such as working near traffic, around heavy equipment, and are exposed to dust fumes, hazardous chemicals and inclement weather.

          Employees are subject to call out to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary to ensure the safety of the public or ensure the integrity of department owned property, shift work may be required of some positions.
