Performs a variety of general cleaning tasks to maintain patient care areas, offices, hallways, and other assigned areas of the hospital campus. Preferred: High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 months to 1 year experience. - Sweeping for removal of lint and debris from floors, baseboards, and corners.
- Damp mopping of hard floor surface areas, using approved germicidal solution. Includes baseboards and corners.
- Moving, cleaning around and underneath movable objects.
- - Maintain carpeted areas in an attractive and clean condition on a daily basis:
- Vacuuming of all carpets in assigned area, as well as, cleaning baseboards.
- Spot cleaning.
- Carpet extraction as necessary, recording of same.
- - Maintain walls, corridors, baseboards and ceilings in a dust, dirt, and lint free condition:
- Daily removal of cobwebs, lint, and spots.
- Wash and/or wipe with germicidal solution daily.
- - Maintenance of Rest Rooms on a daily basis:
- Disinfect and sanitize toilets,
- Disinfect and sanitize sinks.
- Disinfect and sanitize bathtubs and showers according to proper procedures.
- Disinfect and sanitize pipes and flat surface areas in rest rooms.
- Floor cleaned and free of debris.
- Disinfect and sanitize vertical and horizontal surface areas.
- - Total room/hall/common area maintenance on a daily basis:
- Walls, corners, and ceilings kept clean and fee of dust. Use approved germicidal detergent.
- Empty trash receptacles; wipe with approved germicidal agent, twice per shift.
- - Clean furnishings and equipment on a daily basis:
- Clean all patient room furniture daily, sanitizing between patients.
- Make unoccupied patient beds.
- Decontaminates instruments and other central supply items.
- Collects, cleans, and checks equipment for safety (i.e. condition of cords, plugs, suction). Initiates repair process as needed.
- Replaces sharps containers.
- Check and refill as needed, soap and paper dispensers.
- All glass surface areas spot cleaned daily and cleaned bi-monthly.
- - - Maintain assigned closets in a clean and orderly condition:
- Keep custodian closets orderly and neat each shift. Ensure only hospital approved chemicals and equipment are present daily.
- All other assigned closets are kept clean, neat, orderly, and stocked at end of each shift.
