Indirect Tax Compliance Accountant Summary of Position (Job Purpose) The Indirect Tax Compliance Accountant will support the indirect tax compliance function in the US and Canada. This individual will be responsible for compiling indirect tax data and ensuring timely reporting for sales and use tax, unclaimed property filings, bag fees and other miscellaneous taxes. The Tax Compliance Accountant will ensure the accuracy of the information provided to our service providers in order to prepare our indirect tax filings accurately and efficiently. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Compile source data for monthly sales/use tax returns and reconcile to the general ledger for all legal entities (50 states and Canada.) Compile month end journal entries. Ensure entries are timely and accurate. Support notice tracking and resolution. Review simple sales & use tax returns monthly. Support unclaimed property research and state filings. Maintain proficiency in state and local tax laws using tax research software. Assist with simple research of state and local tax laws, and track, analyze and communicate impacts of proposed tax law changes to Indirect Tax leadership. Support projects and process implementation in response to changes in the business environment, such as new tax requirements, changes in technology standards, and internal process changes. Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and be capable of working under pressure with a sense of urgency. Minimum Requirements/Qualifications BA or BS degree is required in Accounting or Finance 0 - 2 years Indirect Tax experience, corporate or equivalent public accounting experience Strong organizational abilities and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver results. Good interpersonal and communication skills Self-motivated, engaged by a fast-paced environment and handling challenges and tight deadlines with ease Strong PC skills including MS Office Desired qualifications: Experience with tax compliance software desired Experience with large business data sets Vertex and OneSource experience preferred.
