JMU's IT Network Services team is accepting applications for a qualified individual to fill the position of Network Technician. Reporting to the Manager of Network Services, the Network Technician will function as part of a growing team of talented network engineers and technicians in meeting the networking needs of the university.Duties and Responsibilities: The Network Technician will provide direct support to customers, team members and IT management by:Monitoring the ticketing system, responding to customer inquiries, and distributing requests to appropriate team membersConfiguring, installing, and troubleshooting various network devices and systemsManaging and monitoring network monitoring systems and reporting issues for escalation and resolutionMaintaining an accurate inventory of network equipment and accessoriesProviding support for various networking projectsCreating, maintaining, and recommending system processes and proceduresQualifications:Required Qualifications and Skills:Experience with Cisco IOS/IOS-XE and the CLIExperience with wireless networkingExperience installing and troubleshooting network hardware including switches and wireless access pointsExperience working in a campus or large enterprise environmentExcellent organizational and communication skills (in-person, email, phone, chat)Attention to detail, problem solving skills, and customer service skillsAdditional Considerations:Familiarity with different cabling and connector types (copper and fiber)Experience with Zenoss monitoringExperience performing wireless surveysExperience managing inventory of equipmentExperience with ITSM ticketing systemsKnowledgeable in Microsoft tools such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint To learn more and to apply, go to http://jobs.jmu.edu/home and reference posting 20000295.
