Position SummaryManassas provides expanded capabilities in soft chews and lozenges. The site has the capability to manufacture cold-processed soft chews for nutritional supplements and nutraceuticals, as well as small batch lozenges. With extensive development and manufacturing expertise and a wide range of flavors, ingredients, and colors available, we can work with complex formulations to help create engaging new products consumers will love.The CI Manager's primary duty is to be a change agent responsible for driving continuous improvement and operational excellence throughout the organization by: applying advanced problem solving tools and methods, and modeling problem solving for the organization; assessing the effectiveness of business and operations functions and process; planning, leading, and facilitating project teams; offering recommendations for and driving sustainable improvements; demonstrating strategic thinking and innovation in the areas of continuous improvement program design and execution; driving culture changes towards lean performance, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. - Recognized as a leader and problem solver at the site by providing leadership and expertise that will solve problems and improve performance, including root cause analysis expertise and training to the site.
- Leads implementation of Lean manufacturing concepts including KPI Development, 5S, Kaizen, Visual Controls, Standard Work (SOP & OPL), Process Mapping and SMED Motivates and coaches on Lean Manufacturing tools with both shift supervisors, and hourly employees. Establishes a strong presence on the floor to set and communicate expectations, standards, and evaluate results for sustainability. Creates, delivers, and coaches on Lean Production basics to employees. Partners with Operations Leadership to design, schedule and lead Kaizen events that will positively impact the plant.
- Analyzes data from RedZone, develops appropriate action plans and communicates progress across the organization.
- Drives site wide continuous improvement effort to maximize safety, quality, and reduce costs. Develops method for tracking and reporting on cost savings goals for the site, including alignment with Finance.
- Develops and deploys metrics for monitoring the progress being made in each facility with emphasis on reporting OEE and cost reduction opportunities.
- Provides internal coaching to site leadership teams on CI system implementation to make breakthrough improvements on OEE/Site Capacity. Strong skills in clearly communicating the why (intent) and the how (execution). Oversee and lead all people related requirements for the area including but not limited to goal setting, performance management succession planning, employee development, and support of a diverse and inclusive culture.
- Initiates and leads employee training to further instill the continuous improvement skill set in the organization. Develops new processes and programs as need and where gaps exist. Participate in all necessary training is required to successfully perform job responsibilities.
- Manages prioritization and communication on project status and tracks accomplishments that will be communicated to the organization. Performs effectiveness checks and ensures sustainability of project results and performance.

- BS/BA in a technical and/or business major is required.
- 5+ years leading CI Initiatives required; preferably in a manufacturing environment such as food, nutraceutical or pharmaceutical required. Experience with documentation, batch record and SOP creation preferred.
- Knowledge/Skills Requirements: (List unique knowledge skills, or problem-solving requirements).
- Experience leading rapid and complex Kaizen events. Experience with investigations, RCA and the development of CAPA's required.
- Quality system experience with FDA regulated products a plus.
- Additional specific education in lean manufacturing and Six-Sigma processes a plus. Experience in lean manufacturing implementations a plus.
- Demonstrable leadership experience at Catalent (including but not limited to participation in Catalent-sponsored leadership programs such as NGGL, GOLD, LEAD Now, GM Excellence, and GROW) may be considered in place of external experience.Why You Should Join Catalent
