Position Summary:The HR Leave of Absence and Compliance Specialist is responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects related to leaves of absence within the organization. The individual will ensure compliance with applicable laws, policies, and regulations, and provide expertise, guidance, and support to employees and managers throughout the leave process. The specialist will also assist with various HR compliance initiatives and projects as needed.Responsibilities: - Handles the leave administration process from the employee's initial notice of the need for leave to the return to work. This includes gathering and completing all required paperwork, determining leave eligibility, designating leave under the appropriate program, requesting medical certification as needed, and accounting for intermittent and reduced schedule leave use.
- Ensures that employees are aware of their responsibilities and of any documentation and notice required to qualify for and to take leave.
- Collaborates with external LOA Administrator, the Engage PEO and employee benefit vendors to monitor and maintain accurate LOA status information and consult on pay issues related to leaves.
- Interprets and applies federal, state, and local regulations to ensure compliance with leave policies, making recommendations and implementing changes as needed.
- Maintains reasonable communication with employees on leave to facilitate smooth and timely return to work, relays communication between employees and their managers during leave within reason.
- Oversees the return-to-work process for employees returning from extended FMLA, workers' compensation, or other leave(s).
- Work in collaboration with Versability leadership, legal counsel, and HR coworkers, recommend and resolve requests for accommodation under the ADAAA.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, identifying potential areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
