Duties--- Perform operations in the renovation, modification, demilitarization, and preservation of ammunition and explosives ranging from small arms to 280 millimeters, to include mines, grenades, and rockets.--- Destroy a variety of explosives, ammunition, and propellants by detonation and burningPrime explosives according to firing system and test continuity of electrical system.--- Operate electric, diesel, or gasoline-powered forklift trucks to move, stack and unstack materials.--- Disassembly and breakdown of ammunition items operating pull-apart or breakdown machines to separate projectiles from shell casings, and base or nose plugs from bombs and minesRequirements Conditions of Employment--- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.--- Subject to Physical Security of Arms, Ammunition and Explosives certification.--- Annual physical required.--- Incumbent will be subject to random drug testing IAW AR 600-85.--- Subject to the Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.--- Valid state driver's license required.--- Forklift certification required within 6 months of appointment.--- Incumbent must meet the requirements of AMCR 350-4, Training and Certification Program for Personnel Working in Ammunition OperationsQualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social)You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experienceThere is no specific length of training or experience requiredHowever, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervisionMinimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Explosives Operator (Fork Lift Operator)- without more than normal supervisionExperience working in production, rework, and maintenance ammunition operations or destroying a variety of explosives, ammunition, or propellants by detonation or burningOperation of an electric, gasoline, or diesel powered fork lift truck- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.--- Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision--- Physical effort: Work involves lifting and working on production including standing, reaching, bending, stooping and manipulating carrying of items weighing up to 45 pounds lines at rhythmic pace for extended periods parts and using machines and hand toolsDuring fork lift operation, physical effort is required in braking and steering, manipulation of clutch, shift, lifting and tilting mechanisms.--- Working Conditions: Work is usually performed indoors, or outdoors in covered areas or passageways which provide some protectionWork areas are usually well lighted and ventilatedSome operations, however, such as melting powder or steaming out powder, cause uncomfortable steam or heat in the work areaWorkers are required to stand on floors made of concrete, lead or conductive compositionThey wear protective clothing such as specially treated coveralls, respirators and goggles on many assignmentsThey are frequently exposed to moisture and wet floors as a result of cleanup operations in powder working areasThey are exposed to the possibility of explosion and flash fireThere is chance of injuries ranging from loss of life or limbs to bums, cuts, bruises, sprains and nauseaAdditional information--- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.--- You will be required to provide proof of U.SCitizenship.--- Two year trial/probationary period may be required.--- Direct Deposit of Pay is required.--- This is a Career Program (CP) 33 -
