HireArt is helping our client find an Autonomous Truck Test Driver (non-CDL) to serve as the onboard safety driver for their autonomous trucks and play a vital role in ensuring safe and efficient testing. In this role, you'll operate a 26-30 ft box truck both manually and while monitoring autonomous driving systems, assist with on-road testing, and maintain awareness of surrounding vehicles and road conditions. Prioritizing safety for all road users, you'll play a crucial role throughout the process. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1 year of experience driving box trucks and a valid Driver's License with no major infractions. This person will also have a high level of professionalism, keen attention to detail, and the ability to exercise sound judgment in a dynamic environment. As an Autonomous Truck Test Driver (non-CDL), you'll: - Operate a 26-30 ft box truck both manually and while monitoring autonomous driving systems.
- Assist with testing operations, including collecting data for the engineering team.
- Manage road interactions to help maintain a controlled testing environment.
- Stay highly aware of surrounding conditions, adapting as needed.
- Prioritize safety for all road users throughout the process.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with the team, following established protocols.
- Exercise strong situational awareness to proactively identify and address potential challenges.Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience driving a box truck
- Possess a valid Driver's License with no major infractions
- Clean driving record and the ability to pass a background check and drug screening
- Tech-savvy and comfortable with computers and smart phones
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for clear and effective reporting
- Critical thinking and decision-making abilities to handle high-pressure situations with composure
- Flexibility to work non-standard hours, including rotating shifts as neededBonus Qualifications:
- Previous experience in autonomous driving, testing, or similar field
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and FMCSA rules
- Understanding of vehicle dynamics and traffic management principles
- A positive attitude and enthusiasm for autonomous vehicle technology
