Field Services Foreman - Houston Texas

Job Summary: Responsible for assisting the Superintendent on the project jobsite. This position will also assist in monitoring onsite personnel and subcontractors in the execution of work with the end result being a quality project completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and which attains or exceeds profit goals, while promoting and enhancing client relationships and the company's image.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Field Services Foreman will be primarily involved with the following duties and responsibilities.

  • Assist the Inventory Controller with the following:
    • Coordinate inventory control process within assigned areas in the facility.
    • Maintaining accurate and real-time inventory records using inventory management systems.
    • Conduct regular cycle counts and reconciliations to identify and address discrepancies.
    • Tracking stock reliability and inventory control per job site requirements using the master inventory list
    • Accurate data entry into all Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and/or Warehouse Management System (WMS).
    • Facilitate movement of materials using required documentation to effectively transfer materials to assigned area within facility.
    • Accurately document turnover and transaction of material from internal laydown space to subcontractor on site.
    • Audit receipts of PO's, put aways, and incoming inventory on a daily basis to ensure accuracy.
    • Effectively track rates of return from vendors to identify defective items and proactively inform necessary personnel to prevent delays in project.
    • Communicate effectively with production teams to understand inventory needs and address any shortages or excesses.
    • Organize the warehouse space efficiently to facilitate easy access and accurate picking.
    • Work closely with onsite subcontractors and procurement to ensure timely replenishment of materials based on production schedules.
    • Ensure compliance with inventory control procedures and documentation requirements.
      • Provide general job-site assistance to the Superintendent.
      • Inform and consult with the project management team regarding any difficulties or restrictions experienced in the ability to adequately perform required documentation, QA/QC, execution of work, or other project responsibilities.
      • Work with assisting Project Manager, QA/QC, Supply Chain Management, Preconstruction, and client personnel during a project's planning phase, including preparation of work sequencing, alternative solutions, and execution plans.
      • Work with assisting Project Management and Supply Chain Management to ensure material deliveries and manpower loadings are in accordance with the project schedule.
      • Assist with monitoring subcontractors' work and ensure they deliver work competently and in accordance with all applicable construction and engineering standards and codes, contract documents, drawings, specifications, schedules, safety and environmental rules, and quality control/assurance standards.
      • Coordinate and oversee subcontractor crews and/or perform miscellaneous field operations work, such as job-site clean up to ensure a tidy and safe jobsite (e.g. sweeping and moving small materials) and shall not include subcontracted trade level type work.
      • Assist with various jobsite tasks, such as clean-up and loading/unloading.
      • Advise Superintendent of field problems, project issues, events, performance, and progress of work.
      • Participate in project meetings (e.g., subcontractor safety preconstruction meetings, weekly subcontractor meetings, etc.).
      • Assistance with coordination of subcontractor warranty work and/or completion of assigned warranty work.
      • Other duties as assigned. Note: The Field Services Foreman is not permitted to operate heavy construction equipment/vehicles, such as bulldozers, grading equipment, etc., or to perform subcontractor trade work already assigned to a subcontractor. In addition, the Field Services Foreman is not permitted to perform any electrical, mechanical, or plumbing work or any other trade work where a license is required (unless licensed and unless not already assigned to a subcontractor).

        Safety:
        • Comply with all safety policies, report suspected safety concerns, make recommendations for enhancements to the safety program, and visibly support and uphold the company's strong safety culture.
        • Ensure all construction activities are conducted in a safe, clean and orderly working environment and ensure job site compliance with the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), including addressing job site issues and documentation of any IIPP events in adherence with the Company's IIPP manual.
        • Participate in weekly safety/coordination meetings with subcontractors' foreman, weekly "All Hands" meetings, and other meetings as requested.
        • Remain current in all company required safety training and certifications.
        • Acknowledge and celebrate safe behaviors and actions of others. Personal:
          • Understand and work within the accepted ethical standards of the company.
          • Proactively support and encourage diversity on projects and team. Visibly support and promote fair and equal treatment and opportunity for all.
          • Remain current in all company required training and certifications.
          • Stay abreast of changes in the industry, best practices, and other industry information by appropriate reading, meetings, conferences, networking, etc.
          • Continuously find ways to take on challenges, increase skills and capacity, and improve knowledge and performance. Education, Experience, and Licensing/Certifications:
            • High School diploma or GED.
            • Minimum of one year of relevant experience in the construction field.
            • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
            • Valid State-issued driver's license and satisfactory driving record and vehicle insurance which meets Alston Construction liability coverage requirements.
            • OSHA 30-hour Safety Certification.
            • First Aid/CPR Certification. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
              • Understanding of all local, state, federal (including OSHA), and company safety and environmental regulations, codes, and requirements related to the construction industry; ability to impart knowledge to others.
              • Ability to work well with minimal supervision, as well as in a team environment.
              • Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications, maps, surveys, mechanical and electrical sheets, project schedules, cost reports, and other construction documents; understanding of contract provisions which address scope of work and design criteria.
              • Working knowledge of all sub trades.
              • Proactive and readily adaptable to changing conditions or demands and ability to work well under pressure and with tight deadlines.
              • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
              • Effective communication skills (written and verbal).
              • Professional demeanor and effective interpersonal skills; ability to successfully interface with and to maintain good working relationships with clients, co-workers, managers, subcontractors, vendors, and others.
              • Ability to effectively handle stress and stressful situations.
              • Working knowledge of computers and applicable software, to include Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and CMiC. Physical Requirements:
                • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach.
                • Occasionally required to crawl.
                • Lift 50 lbs and occasionally lift up to 75 lbs.
                • Reading from documents and computer. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
                • Willingness and ability to work extended hours and flexible schedules, including evenings and weekends. Work Environment
                  • The Field Services Foreman's duties and responsibilities take place in the field.
                  • Will be exposed to outside weather elements while in the field.
                  • May be exposed to loud noises, fumes, and/or airborne particles while in the field.
                  • Dress, including proper PPE, is conducive to a building construction environment.
