Location: The Joule Dallas, TX -Built in the 1920s, the neo-Gothic landmark building at 1530 Main Street was originally the Dallas National Bank. It dominated the downtown skyline during a thriving era of Dallas banking and West Texas oil booms. Downtown Dallas flourished through the '80s, but as the 20th century drew to a close, it was a shadow of its former glory. A decade of development deals and massive renovations transformed the then-vacant bank building into a Forbes four-star boutique hotel. Aptly named after the international unit of energy, The Joule brought a charge to downtown Dallas when it opened in 2008. Through a series of further renovations and expansions as adjacent properties became available, The Joule has become a cultural, shopping, and dining destination-a forerunner in the renaissance of downtown Dallas. - Overview: As a Cook, you will hold a crucial position in Banquets. You will work independently, under minimum supervision, and will be preparing delicious meals according to our recipes and plating specs which are so important for creating a memorable dining experience. You will be responsible for prepping, cooking and dressing dishes, while supporting the Sous-Chef's efforts to improve the general quality of the cuisine served. Responsibilities: - Recognize quality standards in fresh vegetables, fish, and dairy and meat products.
- Deliver dishes that are cooked according to the recipe and plating specs
- Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
- Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (peeling, chopping, julienne cutting, brunoise dicing, cross chopping, etc)
- Cook food in various utensils or grillers (stir frying, grilling, roasting, baking, saut--ing, poaching, simmering, etc)
- Ensure attractive presentation and quality of all food and dishes
- Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
- Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
- Assist Sous-Chef efforts to improve general quality of the cuisine served
- Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by your supervisor Qualifications:
