Location:Dodson Medical Office BuildingDepartment:AYA OncologyShift:First Shift (United States of America)Standard Weekly Hours:40Summary:The NP/PA functions collaboratively with physicians in the Hematology/Oncology Program. The NP/PA autonomously performs patient assessments, diagnosis and implements an appropriate plan of care as defined by approved protocols. The NP/PA prescribes a variety of treatment modalities to meet patient care needs in the defined patient population up to and including hospital admissions/discharges, clinic visits and prescriptive authority. The NP/PA delivers competent and skilled care to patients and families according to their identified needs. Care is based on the nursing process and the medical plan of treatment. The NP/PA will deliver care with a team orientation, an emphasis on good customer relations, sound clinical judgment and appropriate decision-making abilities that take into consideration evidenced based practice.Education:Masters degree in Nursing as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse,Minimum 1 year of pediatric nursing and/or pediatric hematology and oncology NP experience strongly preferredORMasters Degree in Physician Assistant Studies, Minimum 1 year of experience in pediatric and/or pediatric hematology/oncology strongly preferred. Certification/Licensure: Advanced Practice Registered Nurses:

  • Current Texas professional registered nurse license
  • Current Texas professional advance practice registered nurse license Certified as a PNP or FNP Current Basic Life Support (CPR) required
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) requiredORPhysician Assistants:
    • Current Texas professional physician assistant license Certified as a PA-C
    • Current Basic Life Support (CPR) require
