This role is pivotal in ensuring that everything from local family-owned restaurants to large national chains receive the products they need to thrive. Safely operate a tractor-trailer/truck to transport and deliver products to customers. Inspect vehicles for mechanical items and safety issues, and perform preventative maintenance as needed. Plan routes and meet delivery schedules, complying with all DOT and in-house regulations and rules. Document and log work/rest periods and miles spent driving to remain compliant with federal hours of service regulations. Collect and verify delivery instructions, handling paperwork for each load, ensuring accurate customer invoicing, and receiving payments as necessary. Monitor load status, reviewing orders prior to delivery to ensure correct loading and unloading of freight. Report defects, accidents, or violations promptly to maintain safety and compliance. Interact professionally and effectively with customers and the public while delivering products. Proficient in operating Class A commercial vehicles and capable of maneuvering and parking in tight spaces. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to maintain accurate logs and records. Excellent navigation and route mapping skills. Good physical condition to lift heavy loads and assist in loading and unloading trucks as required.
