Registered Nurse (RN) | Intensive Care Unit (ICU) / Critical Care Location: Rapid City, SD Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,169 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 4/20/2026 About the Position Job Title: Registered Nurse - ICU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of ICU experience excluding travel experience preferred. Candidates with 1.5 years of ICU experience excluding travel and significant RN experience outside of ICU may be considered with management approval. License: Registered Nurse (RN) - Must have valid nursing license Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC (must obtain prior to arrival) Must-Have: Epic experience, comfortability working a 48 hr/week contract, experience with complex ICU patients, ability to work in a fast-paced environment Description: This role involves providing care to complex ICU patients. The patient population includes surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma cases. Common diagnoses include ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, and post-surgical conditions. Preferred candidates will have cardiac experience, particularly with CABG/TAVR 24 to 48 hours post-op. Fresh open heart cases will only be assigned to experienced staff approved by the facility. The RN to patient ratios are acuity dependent, typically 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3, rarely exceeding these limits. Experience with IV medications, hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilator management, and telemetry is required. Strong critical thinking and assessment skills are essential. Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced setting and with critically ill patients. Preferred skills include experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT. Travelers may be asked to describe a time when they exceeded a leader’s expectations during the interview process. Support on the unit includes nurse aides and charge nurses overseeing all ICU operations. Phlebotomy services are available for peripheral blood draws. Resource nurses are available depending on staffing. Respiratory therapy is accessible 24/7. There are three intensivists on duty during the day and two at night, along with advanced practice providers at night. The charting system used is Epic, which is required for this position. Floating is uncommon but may occur if overstaffed, potentially to any adult floor with a 1:4 ratio. Weekend rotation is every other week but not guaranteed. There will be no call schedule or time off during major events or holidays. Approval for time off will be at the discretion of the facility, with a maximum of 7 days allowed during a 13-week contract.
