Job Summary Unit Supervisor is clinical responsible for direct patient care and supervising the care provided by other professional personnel. - Assists manager in overall management of the unit and serves as the primary resource for clinical skills and expert knowledge to nursing staff. - The Unit Supervisor is a key player in developing and implementing competencies, orientating new staff members, and will work clinical shifts in order to support new staff and to maintain clinical competency. - Assists with the multi-disciplinary approach to achieve excellence and continuity of patient care with defined emphasis on formal and informal staff education and patient/family teaching. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, developing, training, and retaining employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Education and/or Experience Graduate from a CCNE or NLN accredited nursing program is strongly preferred. - Graduate from an approved nursing program is acceptable. Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred. Two to three years of nursing care experience required. Previous management experience preferred. Licensure/Certification/Registration Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of South Dakota and/or meeting the requirements of multi-state licensure required. Certified in specialty are of nursing practice required within 12 months of hire. Work Schedule Hours: 80 hours per 2 weeks Pay The hourly range for this position is listed below.
