Bishop Gadsden, located on James Island, SC is searching for Dishwashers! Located on James Island, we are a not-for-profit, faith-based retirement community, affiliated with the Episcopal Church. Bishop Gadsden is known as the Southeast's leading life care retirement community. We are located just 10 minutes from downtown Charleston!

The purpose of this Bistro Production Cook position is to prepare deli items, salads, pizza and other food preparations, accompaniments and garnishes for the retail/bistro area as directed by the Executive Chef or manager in charge. All cooks are to assure that food is prepared in accordance with current applicable regulations as well as service guidelines as set forth by the Bishop Gadsden Community.

A Typical Day:

• 
  Regularly handles and prepares food in a safe and sanitary manner.
  
  
• General knowledge of food preparation and handling techniques and demonstrates understanding in daily work.
  
• Prepare and creatively assembles sandwiches, soups, pizzas, salads, desserts, and grab-and-go selections.
  
• 
  Complete the tasks of advance preparations as needed.
  
  
• Follow production sheets.
  
• Work independently with proper direction.
  
• Assure and record food temperature check at each meal preparation.
  
• Store food items properly at close of meal service. Label & date all items.
  
• Clean work area and equipment used in food preparation.
  
• Responsible for stocking all items in retail/bistro area.
  
• Work in tandem with other production cook to operate POS and service ice cream & coffee counter.
  
• Maintain cash drawer and perform operational closing procedures.
  
• Maintain cleanliness of dining area.
  
• Perform all duties assigned in an effective, timely, and professional manner.
  
  What We Need From A Candidate:
  
  
  
  • 
    At least eighteen (18) years of age.
    
    
  • Cash handling and POS experience preferred.
    
  • 2 years professional restaurant or cooking experience.
    
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
    
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and written.
    
  • Ability to lift and/or carry weights of up to 50 pounds.
