Description:CareLink is seeking to hire a Podiatrist for approximately 10-15 flexible hours per week. The Podiatrist will understand and model the mission of CareLink and will collaborate with CareLink leadership team to further develop the program practice. The Podiatrist assesses patient needs and plans and delivers direct podiatric care to residents of skilled nursing, assisted living or other congregate care facilities utilizing established protocol and current standards of practice. The Podiatrist will be supported in provision of mobile podiatry services by CareLink's clinical and operational resources.Essential Functions:Review patients' medical history and consult with medical and nursing staff at facilityEvaluate the condition of the feet, ankle or lower legProvide routine preventative diabetic foot and ankle carePrescribe and fit prosthetic appliances such as shoe inserts to improve patients' mobilityCollaborate with medical and nursing staff on wound and infection managementCollaborate with medical and other specialists to provide neuropathic pain managementPrescribe medication for common foot conditions such as plantar fasciitis, heel stress, and athlete's footRefer patients to other specialists as appropriate to treat conditions such as diabetes or arthritisProvide education to the nursing facility staff on the importance of foot careDirect and supervise the activities of podiatrist assistantAdvise patients on ways to increase speed of recovery and prevent future leg problemsMonitor the recovery progress of patients to determine the need for change in treatmentMedical specialties:GeriatricsAdults with DisabilitiesStandard shift:Day shiftWeekly schedule:Monday to Friday, weekends availability Work setting:Nursing homeOutpatientRequirements:Possess a doctoral degree in podiatric medicine (DPM)Current RI Dept. of Health LicenseMust be vaccinated for COVID-19 and boostedAbility to work as part of an interdisciplinary teamExperience caring for older adults and/or adults with disabilities preferredRetain individual Malpractice InsuranceTravel will include offsite visits to contracted nursing facilities and offices.PI1a0ddb3e3d44-25660-34336410 More...
