Below, youll find other important information about this position.Performs a full range of screening and diagnostic imaging procedures to provide optimum information for the diagnosis and treatment of patients.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:1. Completion of a two year American Medical Association approved course in Radiologic Technology or other accredited and approved medical imaging program.2. Basic Life Support (CPR) within 30 days of hire3. ARRT Certification (Radiology)4. ARRT Certification: Mammography within 1 year of hire5. Pennsylvania State LicensurePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:1. ARRT Certification: Mammography2. 2 years experience in RadiologyCORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Plans the performance of the imaging procedure based on needs of the patient (to include all exams within job scope.).2. Works to continually develop skill sets and become competent in ALL exams within job scope defined by leadership.3. Maintains an expertise in anatomy, physiology and pathology relative to imaging in order to optimize the procedure and ensure patient care/safety.4. Positions and compresses the patient accurately for procedure and fully images all breast tissue.5. Minimizes radiation exposure to patients and staff by shielding and correctly selecting exposure factors.6. Evaluates images for compliance with protocol, image density, contrast, detail, positioning, compression and absence of image artifact. Assures proper patient identification appears on every image.7. Educates patient regarding mammographic procedures by explaining the procedure and answering questions accordingly.8. Documents imaging activities accurately and consistently in accordance with ACR and federal mandates.9. Engages in problem solving, crisis management, and systems implementation with physicians, nursing, technical and support personnel throughout the hospital.10. Instructs radiography students in the clinical setting in support of educational setting.11. Performs a full range of mammographic imaging quality control tests in accordance with the manufacturer and documents them in the Mammography Quality Control Track module.12. Displays imaging techniques, patient care and guest relation behaviors in accordance with the ARRT Code of Ethics, WVUH Administrative Policies and Procedures, Radiology Department Policies, ,Mammography, State and Federal Regulations, and The Joint Commission guidelines.13. Reports equipment failures immediately upon identification.14. Maintains clean, neat and well stocked procedure area.15. Prepares contrast agents, specific pharmaceuticals and sterile trays and devices for invasive mammographic procedures.16. Completes all in-services and competencies by the required date and applies knowledge gained.17. Demonstrates regard for the dignity, respect and safety of all patients, family members, visitors and Hospital Personnel.18. Maintains confidentiality of all Protected Health Information.19. Completes all in-services and competencies by the required date and applies knowledge gained.20. Ability to utilize Epic and PACS.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
