Night Shift: 9:00 PM-5:00 AM, with Overtime as necessaryTool and Die Maker I at Ditch Witch:This position builds weld fixtures, machine fixtures, drill jigs, forming dies, and other specialized equipment from tool designs, sketches, or verbal instructions. Performs other duties as assigned.What Will You Do? - Operates welder, cutting torch, milling machine, lathe, saws, drill press, and other specialized equipment.
- Collect and analyze technical information from a variety of sources.
- Conversations with engineers, equipment operators, and other tooling personnel.
- Utilize and interpret technical documents (drawings, catalogs, etc.).
- Present and demonstrate designs and concepts to appropriate groups.
- Constructs weld, machine, and inspection fixtures using precise layout welding and assembly techniques.
- Inspect, operate, and help modify tooling. - This will include using measuring tools (rules, micrometers, calipers, etc.) and hand or power tools (hand/air impact wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.).
- Collaborates with the tool designers and shop personnel to resolve problems related to material characteristics, dimensional tolerances, service requirements, manufacturing procedures, and cost of tools.
- Selects standard items for incorporation into tool design.
- Request changes to improve manufacturing processes related to tool design.
- Provides robotic welding support.Work Environment:
- Manufacturing plant conditions (indoors, with variable temperature and humidity, noise, and dirt). -Occasional outside work.
- Use of personal protective equipment including as specified in the Safety Policy.
- Physical hazards such as powered vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic, sharp objects, moving machinery, electrical arc-welding equipment, and materials handling.
- Working with hazardous materials, including solvents, oils, grease, and pressurized gases.
- Highly variable duties, workloads, and priorities. -Changes often happen with little notice.
- Workdays of up to 11 hours, along with some work on Saturdays.What Do You Need?
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Demonstrate acceptable layout welding skills and high weld quality.
- Able to communicate effectively over the phone and before small groups of people.
- Able to regularly handle items weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionally handle items weighing 50 pounds or more.
- Able to work overtime as needed.
- Have a good work record of self-motivation, teamwork, productivity, and safety.
- Demonstrate basic computer skills.
- Have appropriate reading, clerical, and basic mathematical skills.
- Work well with others in a team setting.Preferred Qualifications:
