Compensation is based on your unique qualifications and experience. Job Summary Under the general direction of the Safety Manager and Safety Director, the Safety Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring a safe and compliant work environment. Duties include maintaining safety programs that protect our employees and promote a culture of safety throughout the organization. The Safety Coordinator is responsible for identifying risks and recommending improvements, making a tangible impact on our workplace safety standards. Responsibilities And Duties - Participate in all jobsite progress meetings.
- Implement and monitor safety policies and procedures regionally in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct weekly safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Conduct new employee safety training.
- Oversee and keep records of safety training programs and workshops to educate employees on safety practices and emergency procedures.
- Conduct near-miss and accidents/incidents investigations to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain and update safety records, reports, and documentation as required by regulatory agencies.
- Collaborate with management and staff to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Ensure all safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) is available, properly maintained, and used correctly.
- Serve as the regional point of contact for all safety-related matters and liaise with external safety consultants and agencies.
- Monitor and track safety performance metrics and report findings to management.
- Stay informed about and participate in training regarding industry best practices and changes in safety regulations and standards.
Skills and Abilities - Familiarity with construction principles and culture
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to conduct training sessions and safety meetings
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Fluency in computer programs including but not limited to the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to implement safety policies and procedures
- Experience with incident investigation and reporting
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Willingness for flexibility to travel to various job sites as needed
- First Aid training and/or certification
- Fluency in Spanish highly preferred
Required Experience and Education - Associate's degree in related field preferred but not required
- Five or more years of experience in the construction and/or manufacturing industry
- Some experience with OSHA and other relevant safety regulations
- Experience with heavy equipment, HAZMAT, cranes and crane lift plans
- Understanding of risk assessment procedures and hazard identification
- A valid driver's license
