SUMMARYThe Technician I works developing skills that support various aspects of the Machine Tools business. Skill development is focused on the mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, mechanical troubleshooting, and electrical troubleshooting aspects of the Machine Tool Turning and Fabrication products.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, other duties may be assigned. Training of these duties and responsibilities will be completed by the Training program established by the Division.Assembling mechanical and electrical components to build complex systems according to engineering drawings and specifications.Install Machine Tool products (Turning and Fabrication) and peripheral devices for use.Testing and troubleshooting systems to detect and solve technical problems.Conduct visual inspections of components and assembled systems to ensure quality standards are met.Maintaining accurate records of production data, results, and other reports as required.Collaborating with other departments such as engineering, controls, materials, service, logistics, and project management to ensure efficient and effective processes are in place.Make recommendations for improvements to processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs where appropriate.Develop strong customer service skills.Follow safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe work environment.Keep tools and work area clean and organized.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Technical degree or certification in a related field is a plus.LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.REASONING ABILITYAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIESStrong attention to detail.Able to follow and read complex engineering drawings (mechanical and electrical schematics).Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and electrical testing equipment.Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems.Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.Knowledge of basic math and computer skills.Must be able to use gauges and tools efficiently. Mechanical and electrical aptitude is required. Microsoft, and computer skills necessary.TRAVEL:A valid drivers license and good driving record are required.
