JOB ANNOUNCEMENT What began as a one-man environmental engineering consulting firm in 1986 has purposefully grown into a leading design services firm. Watts is a multi-disciplinary architecture and engineering (A/E) firm providing architecture, civil, environmental, transportation, and construction monitoring services with offices in Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and New York City. As an interdisciplinary team of architects, engineers, and community builders, we work hand in hand with our clients to realize enduring designs — to create space for what matters. We have an immediate opening for a Construction Inspector for a local bridge replacement project located in Chautauqua County. The position will represent the owner’s interests and provide oversight of the general contractor’s conformance to the contract documents. Responsibilities and Duties Ensure compliance with the contract requirements Understand plans and specifications Document the progression of work Keep records Respond to technical inquiries Review shop drawings and material/equipment submittals Resolve field problems Process payment requests Monitor schedule and budget Provide overall project communications Qualifications The successful candidate must have solid inspection experience and general all-around knowledge of infrastructure construction including highways, bridges, site work, traffic control, drainage, paving, concrete work and health and safety A minimum of 3 years of related experience Skilled in the use of standard software applications Good attitude and communications skills, including written materials NICET Level II or III certification in Transportation Construction Inspection In lieu of the NICET certification, we may accept evidence that the person: 1) Has satisfactorily performed similar duties as a former employee of a public agency such as the NYS Department of Transportation; 2) Or has a combination of education and appropriate experience commensurate with the scope of the position; 3) Or qualifies for an equivalent ASCE Grade.
