Registered Nurse (RN) | Progressive Care Unit Location: Brooklyn, NY Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $3,041 per week Shift Information: Days - 5 days x 8 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 5/4/2026 About the Position Job Title: Wound and Ostomy RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: Wound and Ostomy Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 40.00 Experience: Minimum of 2 years preferred License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: BCLS required; Wound and Ostomy Certification preferred Must-Have: Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred Description: The Wound and Ostomy RN is responsible for providing direct and indirect patient care in inpatient settings. The RN is expected to competently perform patient care responsibilities within the assigned work setting. Responsibilities include the systematic collection and assessment of data in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to provide therapeutic care. The RN performs all required elements of a nursing assessment, functional assessment, and utilizes patient/family specific assessments as required. Factors related to safety, effectiveness, and cost are considered in planning and delivering care. Decisions and actions on behalf of patients are determined in an ethical manner. Care is provided in collaboration with other nursing staff members. The RN delegates and supervises care in accordance with nursing practice acts and the professional nursing role. Competencies include: Providing wound and ostomy nursing care. Demonstrating expertise in wound and ostomy nursing and the nursing process through the provision of nursing care. Providing direct care in a hospital setting, systematically assessing the needs of the patient through interviews, observations, and physical examinations. Securing information about the medical plan of care and previous health care experiences from the healthcare team. Noting progress in meeting defined outcomes on the multidisciplinary care plan. Planning and organizing individual nursing care for an identified group of patients. Administering nursing care, independently applying both simple and complex techniques specific to patient needs. Evaluating the nursing care administered to patients and documenting patient responses to prescribed interventions. Completing delegated patient and family teaching, including providing information about policies, procedures, and self-care. Eliciting patient and family participation in care based on physiological and psychological readiness. Instructing patients and families on disease processes, risk factors, and prevention of complications. Anticipating nursing and/or medical problems and initiating preventive measures. Assessing nutritional status of patients and communicating findings with the healthcare team. Providing concise communication regarding patient progress to nursing staff and other healthcare practitioners. Demonstrating knowledge of growth and development principles relevant to appropriate age groups. Exhibiting the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret necessary information for care requirements. Establishing satisfactory interpersonal relationships with coworkers, colleagues, patients, families, and significant others. Initiating communication with patients and families to determine individual needs. Sharing and exchanging ideas and information with coworkers and colleagues in other disciplines and departments. Responding effectively to communications from various stakeholders. Demonstrating sensitivity to the values of self and others. Involving patients and families in the care plan while incorporating their cultural, spiritual, and belief systems. Involves standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, and bending, with possible repetitive motions.
