What Your Job Will Be Like: We are seeking a postdoctoral appointee to join our quantum optics and quantum sensing group at the Center for Integrated Nanotechnology (CINT (https://cint.lanl.gov/) ) at Sandia National Laboratories (New Mexico). The focus of this group is discovering and utilizing solid state defect centers in wide bandgap semiconductors for quantum information and quantum sensing. We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a strong background in experimental optics, quantum information, and/or condensed matter physics. All equipment/resources are provided within our center. You will be working closely a team of staff, postdoc, graduate students and technologists who are experts in ion nano-implantation, quantum information sciences, single photon emitters, and nitrogen-vacancy magnetometry. You will engage in original research in many areas of solid-state defect center discovery and utilization, including new capability demonstration. A Ph.D. in physics, materials science, chemistry or a related field is required. Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite. Qualifications We Require: - PhD, conferred within 5 years prior to employment, in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Optical Sciences, Quantum Information, or related discipline
- Proven communication skills as evidenced by a record of publication of results in peer-reviewed journals and external presentations at scientific conferences
- Experience will include experimental research and hands on laboratory experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance
