Job Description The US Regional Director/Principal Scientist Medical Affairs (RDMA) is responsible for driving execution of the Value and Implementation (V&I) plans within the US for the cardiovascular therapeutic area, focusing on atherosclerosis. They are impactful members of regional cross-functional teams, including Global Medical Affairs, US Commercial, Value Team, Policy and Market Access. They engage with their network of US scientific leaders. This is a US based position in our Company's Research Laboratories Global Medical & Scientific Affairs (our Research & Development Division GMSA). Primary activities - Guides country Research and Development GMA staff to execute the annual V&I plan for the cardiovascular TA, focusing on atherosclerosis.
- Co-chairs the US Medical Affairs Team to ensure execution of agreed medical tactics and leverage best practices.
- Ensures scientific exchange is aligned with the global scientific communications platforms.
- Partners with regional Commercial, Outcomes Research (OR) regional Policy and regional Market Access to drive development and execution of region plans.
- Consolidates actionable medical insights from the US medical affairs team.
- Engages with a network of US scientific leaders and other key stakeholders (therapeutic guideline committees, payers, public groups, government officials, medical societies).
- Supports, as regional TA expert, affiliates staff in engagement with their national scientific leaders.
- Organizes US group input meetings (GIMs) to answer our Company's questions how to implement new medicines in the cardiovascular therapeutic area.
- Provides medical strategic support for US regional symposia and educational meetings.
- Reviews investigator-initiated study proposals prior to headquarters submission.
- Manages regional programs (patient support, educational or risk management) to support appropriate and safe utilization of our Company medicines.
Required Education Minimum: - MD, PhD or PharmD (MD preferred) and recognized medical expertise in the therapy area
