The Business Development Manager Industry Vertical is responsible for developing and selling Yusen Logistics various supply chain products for local, national, and global accounts within a specific industry vertical. The role will also look to expand service offerings with the company's existing industry vertical customers. This position is part of the business development team and works with domestic operations and various international stakeholders to achieve revenue generation, account management and customer satisfaction goals. Responsibilities - Develop and progress new business opportunities through research, prospecting and qualifying new opportunities. This will include customer visits & developing relationships within the defined geographical area or industry vertical.
- Increase market share within assigned industry vertical and achieve assigned financial budget for volume, revenue, and profit.
- Prepare and present sales proposals, make recommendations for new services, extensions, or enhancements to new and existing customers and navigate objections to closure.
- Maintain contact with all customers to ensure high levels of client satisfaction. Work with operations on any significant operational issues or changes to ensure maximum customer satisfaction.
- Recommend and offer solutions for customer needs in line with the company's supply chain/logistics offerings. Ensure full understanding of such requirements and service offerings being proposed to existing customers.
- Coordinate with the credit department to establish lines of credit for new accounts and work on customer implementations.
- Provide analytics and customer data internally and to customers as needed while leveraging internal reporting teams.
- Proactively establish and maintain effective working team relationships with all operations departments under a global matrixed environment.
- Work with overseas offices to target local client on routed transactions for nonrouted opportunities.
- Maintains accurate records of all sales and prospecting activities including sales calls, presentations, closed sales, and follow-up activities with the company's CRM.
- Participate in local business activities and events to gain networking opportunities and to expose the local market to the Yusen brand and value proposition.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in related logistics field preferred and/or five or more years' related experience in freight forwarding, International Operations, logistics, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3-5 years of experience working in supply chain/logistics outside sales within the defined vertical.
- Knowledge of the vertical's customer requirements as well as an established network of customer and vendor contacts.
- Ability to present to customers as part of the sales process.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to develop relationships with business contacts.
- High level of organizational and time management skills.
