Job Description The Associate Director is an integral part of the financial planning, analysis, and reporting team for the R&D Portfolio (annual budget -$2 Billion). This individual will be responsible for analyzing the month-end financial performance and reporting, along with leading the budget/projection activities and analysis. They will also drive improvement in systems, processes and reports used across R&D finance portfolio. The individual will provide leadership within the Reporting and Analysis team to guide them to effectively manage the day-to-day activities and priorities. Key Responsibilities - Lead Month-end and quarter end close process for R&D Portfolio spending, including coordination of variance commentary vs projection
- Lead projection and budget process within R&D Finance, including ownership of the multi-year attrition model to arrive at net portfolio spending
- Coordinate with cross functional groups such as Portfolio Strategy and Operations, BI&A, as part of the annual budget and Portfolio Optimization process
- Effectively partner with R&D finance resource managers to ensure standardized guidelines are communicated and followed across the portfolio
- Lead continuous improvements in systems and processes used to generate data for analysis, including integration of different legacy systems and enhance the system integration roadmap
- Provide insights on financial health of the R&D Portfolio, analyze and identify drivers of spending trends and forecasts
- Monitor R&D Portfolio performance and reporting results vs. expectations with clear, concise and transparent drivers and assist in preparing presentations to senior leaders and business partners
- Support quarterly IPR&D Impairment analysis
- Present financial plans and results to key R&D finance management
- Ensure relevant accounting procedures and controls are in place and operating as well all requirements for US GAAP are fulfilled
- Support other ad-hoc Portfolio requests from R&D business, BIA, tax, corporate reporting and analysis, etc.Position Qualifications
