General Purpose:--Direct day-to-day operations of a DFA maintenance shop in the Mountain Area (MA) East or West, providing preventative and corrective maintenance for DFA-owned equipment. Provide maintenance employees direction that allows them to carry out all programs and policies of DFA. Is responsible for planning, scheduling, and documenting repair work to ensure that all work is done in a safe, compliant, efficient, and cost effective manner.--Job Duties and Responsibilities:Create and execute the daily/weekly plan for all assigned shop locations accomplishing preventative maintenance and set or reevaluate priorities depending on location needs. Provide direction to mechanics to ensure that the fleet is repaired and maintained in a safe, efficient, and timely manner with the highest qualitySupervise the financial status of their assigned location and monitor and control labor, supplies, and cost.Oversee shop inventory control system to ensure necessary equipment and parts levels are maintained and purchases are within budget. Review and approve expenses that are within scope of approval level; refer larger expenses or major repairs to manager as appropriateMonitor operational performance and efficiency; assist in the identification and implementation of continuous improvement and customer satisfaction opportunitiesReview DVIR's and communicate service needs to Location Managers or Driver Supervisors. Ensure proper chain of custody is followed by shop staff for daily paperwork, work orders, and parts usage utilizing RTA and other computer programsManage adherence to safety procedures and policies established by company policy, OSHA, and DOT lawsComplete annual performance reviews for assigned employeesWork with HR Manager to coach, counsel, and discipline employees; interview and hire new employees; and identify training needs to continually develop and improve the workforcePerform inspections of internal and outside repairs to ensure all work was properly completed in accordance with company's safety and compliance procedures and federal and state regulations; follow up where appropriateMaintain advanced knowledge of engine, emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic, and electrical systems to perform advanced preventive and repair maintenance functions on heavy equipment and vehicles used by the Company, both onsite and on the roadAssist in routine environmental, safety, OSHA, and DOT compliance and reporting for assigned locationCreate employee schedules, approve timecards/ time off requests, and work with HR to resolve any payroll issuesActively promote a safety culture by adherence to safety procedures and established company policy regardingWork with Safety and Environmental Manager on investigations and corrective actions as a result of injuries/accidents, audits, or employee concernsDevelop and maintain professional relationships with local and national vendors to ensure best pricing and quality WorkThe requirements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employee, but is not a complete list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required.
