Warriors Explore Summer School will be in session beginning Monday, June 2, 2026 - Friday, June 26, 2026. Summer School Workday is scheduled for Thursday, May 28th. *Applicants must be certified in the grade level(s) or content area they are teaching. Applicants willing to work all 4 weeks for academic consistency will be given priority. Instructional Strategies & Environment Priority Standards Focus: Every lesson should have a clearly defined Missouri Priority Standard objective that guides the activity and assessment. Total Participation Techniques: Instruction must move beyond traditional "sit and get" methods. Teachers are expected to plan Kagan engagement structures per instructional block to ensure equity of voice. Hands-On Enrichment: Afternoon blocks are dedicated to applying grade level standards (in any content area) through project-based learning, hands-on experiments, inquiry or exploration. Literacy: Standards Focus: Instruction must prioritize Missouri Learning Standards (MLS) for Reading and Writing, focusing on foundational phonics, fluency, and deep comprehension. Active Engagement: Use Kagan structures (such as Number Heads Together or Quiz-Quiz-Trade ) to ensure every student is actively participating in vocabulary and content discussions. Thematic Vocabulary: Teachers should use Missouri learning standards modules (for the grade level they are teaching) to build robust background knowledge and academic language across disciplines. Mathematics: Upside Down Teaching Discovery-First: Following the Upside Down Math model, lessons should begin with a "challenge" or complex problem that requires students to apply critical thinking before receiving direct instruction. Hands-On Manipulatives: Mathematical concepts must be explored through physical objects and tactile experiences to bridge the gap between concrete and abstract understanding. Collaborative Problem-Solving: Students should work in pairs or small teams using Kagan activities to explain their mathematical reasoning and justify their solutions to peers. More...
