Critical functions include directing the recruitment, admissions, and matriculation of applicants to meet enrollment goals, develop and implement strategies that yield broadly representative student populations and provide leadership and direction for professional staff. The Director will work to develop and sustain relationships with key constituents, including prospective students, parents, high school and independent counselors, alumni, and community college partners. Job Duties: Lead and Manage the Office of Admissions (60%) - Execute a comprehensive recruitment plan that articulates long- and short- term strategic goals to recruit first-year and transfer populations, including a top-notch prospective student and family visit experience.
- Oversee the collection and organization of accurate data regarding all phases of the enrollment process; analyze the data and make data-driven enrollment projections and decisions.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate policies, procedures, information systems, and controls for recruitment and admissions functions to assure maximum efficiency and effectiveness of the operation.Supervision (25%)
- Hire, train, supervise, and mentor admissions staff members; inspire new thinking, courage, and the highest standards of performance and teamwork. Manage with an eye towards professional development, transparency, and staff engagement while ensuring all staff are meeting the needs of the department and collectively meeting institutional goals.Collaborate with Campus and Community Partners (15%)
- In collaboration with the Office of Financial Aid, manage scholarship resources consistent with strategic initiatives and overall goals.
- Oversee and work closely with partners that support financial aid, student search, and other recruitment efforts.
- In partnership with the Office of Communications and Marketing, collaborate in the development of communication strategies and materials to serve the University's enrollment objectives.
- Create strong relationships on and off-campus. Partner with admissions staff at other University of Minnesota campuses
Qualifications Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree and at least eight years of relevant experience or master's degree plus at least six years of relevant experience.
- A record of success in the following: university admission, including recruitment and enrollment planning and program development; team building within the office and among university departments; human resource and budget management; and data collection analysis and assessment activities.Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree
- Strong appreciation of, and commitment to, the value of a liberal arts education in a residential setting
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to foster intercultural competence, advance equity and inclusion, and create a diverse, inclusive work environment; success recruiting a diverse student body
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a variety of stakeholders
- Familiarity with current national issues in higher education and awareness of their implications for liberal arts colleges
- Capacity to think strategically and to work creatively, and the skills and discipline to bring initiatives to fruition
- Ability to represent campus effectively and in various capacities at the University of Minnesota System level and to collaborate with system partners
