About the Job


The University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine is hiring:
* One Assistant Professor, tenure-track, position in Internal Medicine, 100%-time faculty appointment.
* This position is a tenure-track position that will be primarily research-focused with at least 75% research effort.

Internal Medicine Description:
* Research: The successful candidate will build an independent research program in Small Animal Internal Medicine and Oncology. Duties will include development and management of a research program, grantsmanship, and mentoring of graduate students and residents. Clinical research opportunities also are available through the Clinical Investigation Center, as many potential funded research projects require oncology and internal medicine expertise.
* Clinical Service: The selected individual will be expected to support house officers in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of Small Animal Internal Medicine cases presented to the Veterinary Medical Center (VMC). Provide excellent specialty-level care in internal medicine in collaboration with other specialists and emergency veterinarians. Work closely with colleagues in the Veterinary Medical Center to provide seamless transition between secondary and tertiary care, support clinical research trials, and provide opportunities for the training of student clinical externs and house officers. Positively represent the hospital in the professional community and to the general public.
* Professional and Graduate Education: The selected individual will be expected to participate in the didactic and clinical skills instruction of professional and/or graduate students. This individual will also be expected to advise and mentor Small Animal Internal Medicine residents.
* Service: The selected individual will support the service mission of the College through internal and external committee engagement in line with professional interests and in support of the greater interests of the College of Veterinary Medicine.
Qualifications


Minimum qualifications for this position include a:
* DVM or equivalent veterinary degree,
* Board certification in Small Animal Internal Medicine,
* Secured NIH K Award funding,
* Oncology-based independent research program.
