We are looking for a creative Prototyping Mechanical Engineer skilled in rapid prototyping techniques to perform complicated and advanced electrical and mechanical engineering work of major complexity. This involves collaborating with our R&D team to design, fabricate, and test prototype components, assemblies and systems to aid in the development of new products or the improvement of existing products. Responsibilities Assists in the design, fabrication and testing of protype components Collaborates with the team to plan and organize technical design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of mechanical and electromechanical apparatus Performs tasks and experiments to support NMR probe evaluation Uses CAD software to create and analyze designs, run simulations, and test how equipment interacts with other connected systems Identifies and addresses potential issues and faults such as short circuits, poor soldering to ensure the performance, functionality and reliability of products Prepares PowerPoint presentations to report results from experiments for review and analysis Assists scientists with verification and validation processes to transfer the resulting technology to production Skills BS degree in Mechanical Engineering and ability to analyze, evaluate, and assess complex, interactive mechanical components A minimum of 1-3 years related experience Knowledge and experience with basic machine tools for prototyping etc. milling, engraving machines, lathe, drill press, band saw, and soldering Knowledge and experience with radio frequency, cryogenic and vacuum equipment preferred Experience with 2D/3D CAD software and manufacturing tools (e.g., Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks) is required Knowledge of Matlab, IgorPro/Origin, Adobe Inventor, and simulation experience with ANSYS HFAA/mechanical, National Instruments AWR, and Arduino is desired Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite About JEOL Since 1949, the JEOL legacy has been one of providing solutions for innovation.
