What we need Symbotic is currently seeking an experienced leader to join our team. The candidate must understand the importance of fostering a strong team environment and the ability to develop trusting relationships with their team members. We are looking for a creative and collaborative person who thrives in an agile development environment. This role manages a talented team of roboticists working on our Symbot mobile robot. Not only is high-level technical contribution expected, but the role also requires excellent communication and leadership skills, and the ability to collaborate in a highly cross-functional environment. What we do The Perception team is primarily responsible for developing and improving perception algorithms that enable our robots to be robust and efficient in a warehouse environment utilizing their onboard sensors. What you'll do - Building, motivating, and coaching a diverse team of roboticists and software engineers.
- Managing multiple work streams with contributors both inside and outside the Perception team, taking responsibility for the timely execution and high-quality delivery of commitments.
- Collaborating with other engineering teams on planning, design, and development for releases.
- Using your technical skills to contribute to architecture and design discussions as well as code development and code reviews on all managed work streams.
- Managing the day-to-day activities of approximately 4 to 8 engineers.
- Manage both in house and outsourced software engineering teams.
- Translate strategic objectives into tactical action plans and establish teams which can execute those plans.
- Continue to build the team by hiring and onboarding new engineers and then cultivating their careers from there.
