- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS (AHA/ ARC) CertificationPreferred Qualifications:
- PALS (AHA/ARC) or ENPC Certifications
- ACLS (AHA/ARC) Certification
- RCIS/RCES Certification
- Other certifications or licenses may be required for this positionSummary:The Interventional Radiology (IR) Nurse provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing minimally invasive procedures in the IR lab. This role involves pre-procedure assessment, intra-procedure monitoring, sedation administration, and post-procedure recovery management. The IR Nurse works closely with radiologists, technologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure patient safety, comfort, and optimal procedural outcomes.Essential Work Functions:
- Perform comprehensive pre-procedure assessments, including reviewing medical history and lab results
- Educate patients and families about IR procedures, sedation, and post-procedure care
- Administer and monitor moderate sedation, ensuring patient comfort and safety
- Monitor hemodynamic status, cardiac rhythms, and oxygenation levels during procedures
- Assist physicians during procedures, ensuring proper positioning, sterile technique, and instrument handling
- Recognize and respond to complications, escalating care when necessary
- Provide post-procedure monitoring and recovery care, including pain management and patient discharge education
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient assessments, medications, and procedural details
- Collaborate with IR technologists, radiologists, and other healthcare team members to deliver coordinated care
- Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practiceRequired Essential Skills:
- Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills
- The ability to read, write, & communicate in the English language is required
- Ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
- Physical Abilities - Remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), pushing, pulling, bending
- Interpersonal Skills - To work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism
- Technical/Motor Skills - Ability to grasp, fine manipulation, pushing/pulling and able to move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment.
- Mental Requirements - Must be able to cope with frequent contact with the general public, customers, and meeting deadlines under pressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionally as well as working without assistance from other personnel. Must be able to contend with irregular activity schedules occasionally and continuous concentration to detail
